Below are some steps I encourage you to follow in order to keep your doll in the best possible condition:
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Extended sun exposure may cause the plastic to yellow over time.
- Do not wet the doll. Even though the face paint is sealed, water inside the doll’s head can damage the eye mechanism.
- When closing or changing the eyes, hold the head and pull the pullstrings back, never down. This will prevent friction and ensure the pullstrings don’t break.
- Don’t place anything that could scratch the faceplate on her face. For example glasses, may look cute, but taking them on and off can scratch the face and leave marks that are hard to fix.
What to do if something breaks on your doll?
While this could happen over time, most issues are easy to fix:
- The eyes won’t change: This could be due to something loose or broken in the eye mechanism. Open the head and check if the T-bar is loose or broken. If it’s loose, simply tighten it with a screwdriver. If it’s broken, you can find replacements online.
- The pullstring snapped: Open the doll, attach another cord where the broken one used to be, pull it through the backplate, close the head, and add the charms.
If you encounter any other issues not mentioned here (though rare), feel free to contact me, and I’ll be happy to assist!
